Who is Rev Roz?

RevRoz is Gary Rozman - poet, philosopher, scientist, interfaith and secular minister and performer of exquisite, personalized wedding and commitment ceremonies. Reverend Gary Rozman believes there is great value to honoring the partnership of two lives, and he aims to bring that message to every wedding ceremony that he performs.

Weddings can be memorable for many reasons. He believes that weddings can and should be of every size, in every budget, of all levels of formality...as long as the ceremony is given the distinction of great importance - one which reflects your relationship, lifestyle, beliefs, and sense of celebration.

Gary works with couples to create and prepare a ceremony tailored to their beliefs, wishes, and desires. For couples who are combining different backgrounds and rituals, he will work with you to find the perfect balance of your cultures, creating a harmonious and beautiful ceremony that you and your guests will enjoy. For couples looking for modern ideas, he will be happy to craft a unique ceremony, creating new yet meaningful rituals for you.

With his infectious enthusiasm, Gary creates a ceremony that is lively, festive, jovial...but not a joke. He is eager to help in any way he can to make the moment you say "I do" be as wonderful as possible. Gary welcomes working with couples from all over the globe, and has performed ceremonies for international couples looking to marry in New York City, brides and grooms from across the 50 states, as well as native New Yorkers.

The Story of RevRoz

In the summer of 2004, Gary was asked by his good friends Josh Cook and Stella Gilgur to perform a wedding ceremony for them. He graciously agreed and embarked on the journey to become a registered Officiant. On July 19, 2004, Gary was granted the power to perform marriages in all five boroughs of New York City, and performed his first wedding ceremony on October 2, 2004.

Gary’s favor to two close friends clearly hit on something important, as soon after others began asking him to perform their weddings as well. Within a short time, Gary began officiating wedding ceremonies for friends, family members, and lucky couples who heard of him through word-of-mouth.

To date, Gary has performed over 20 ceremonies in Manhattan, New Jersey, Long Island, and Vermont. Gary has officiated weddings in breathtaking outdoor locations, in chapels and houses of worship, and in catering halls and banquet facilities. For couples unsure of a ceremony site, Gary's experience as a former Urban Park Ranger in Manhattan's Central Park has helped him to reccomend beautiful sites for parties of any size. In any setting, Gary strives to be unique, creative, and genuine in his work with couples. RevRoz embraces all beliefs and welcomes heterosexual and same-sex couples with both traditional and innovative perspectives.

"We loved working with Gary. He was so wonderful in contributing some very creative suggestions to our non-traditional wedding. We enjoyed his enthusiasm, and his 'sermon' was spectacular! It was very funny and made people break out in laughter but, it was also touching and it brought them to tears. We were so happy to have him as our minister. We could not have found a better one! We will always remember him as both our minister who married us but also a good friend." ~ China & Seth
